Tom Hunter
Tom Hunter was born in Bournemouth, England in 1965. Hunter is a photographer based in Hackey, specialising in documenting life in Hackney, depicting local issues and sensationalist news headlines from the 'Hackney Gazette' newspaper.
Below are some examples of Tom Hunter's Hackney Documentary shots.
Objectively, in the image below, there is a man that has collapsed on the floor, outside and leaning on a mattress. In the background, there is an industrialised city which could suggest that, somehow, the man has unawarely washed up in an overgrown field. Possibly as a result of alcohol or drugs. Subjectively, this could depict the idea that as the world evolves and more things become possible, the number of people that abuse drugs will increase. Due to the composition and depth-of-field of the image, the focus is centred around the collapsed man and the mattress. The two brightest colours in the image are the green of the grass and the blue of the mattress which shows the 'coming together' of the natural world and the man-made world.
