Objectively, the image below is of the sides of a tall buildings in the urban environment. Not the usual grey colours you would expect, but a much more colourful and lively scene. Subjectively, this could suggest that things may not be as they appear. The stereotype of people that live flats and buildings like that may not be very good, but there is a good chance that there is a lot of good people living there. This could set the mood of hope because it shows that even the darkest, dullest things can be brightened up, even people's lives. In my opinion, the contrast of colours is high. And, due to the composition and scene ratio of the image, the focus is centred around bright colours of the tower blocks.

Douglas Sonders

Douglas Sonders is a photographer and filmmaker born and raised in the Virginia suburbs, just outside of Washington D.C. He graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2004 with an Advertising Photography degree. He specialises in on-location shoots around the world and travel on assignment over 100,000 miles a year.
Below is an example mood board of Douglas Sonders' Still Life photos.

Objectively, in the image below, there is a souped up Dodge Charger in between two police cars. Subjectively, this could suggest that people spend a lot of time and money to modify their cars to make the more powerful, only to then go and get caught speeding by the police. Douglas Sonders could be trying to portray his view point, that is he thinks it is a waste of time and money that could be spent of something more efficient. This could set the mood of excitement because if people modify there cars and speed, the body produced adrenalin and excites the driver. In my opinion, there is a high contrast of colours. And, due to the composition and depth-of-field of the image, the focus is centred around the souped up Dodge Charger in the middle.

Graham Uden

On arrival in Hong Kong from New York in 1992, British born Hong Kong based photographer Graham Uden set to work documenting the faces and scenes of Asia. This has involved being roughed up by ex-President Clinton’s secret service bodyguards in HK, being held up by AK-47 toting ex-Khmer Rouge soldiers in Cambodia, crawling across minefields in Laos, squatting 300 metres from Taleban frontline trenches in the Afghanistan war and narrowly missing suicide bombs in Baghdad during 2003.

Below is an example mood board of Graham Uden's Still Life photos.

Objectively, in the image below, there are two armchairs, a table and a light. Subjectively, with the light and the chairs being layed out like this, it could suggest that an old couple used to live in that house and have passed away. The fact that the light is still on could portray the love they shared as 'death-defying'. This could set the mood of encouragement because this can be used as motivation for other couples to stay together if they are having problems. In my opinion, there is a medium contrast of colours. And, due to the composition and lighting of the image, the focus is centred around the two armchairs.

My Still Life attempt

Here, there is a candle in the foreground and a silver Buddha in the background being lit up by the light of the candle. I did this because I wanted to experiment with a longer exposure and object reflection.

Still Life Photoshop
Here, I used photoshop to combine different images of a football, american football and a baseball, into one image.
