Harold de Puymorin is a Hong Kong Based Photographer. He offers Professional Photography Services for both Particulars & Corporate Portraiture, Corporate Headshots, Events, Editorials, Brands, Vernissage and Professional Retouching services using high-end software (Adobe Photoshop / Illustrator etc.).
Below are examples of Harold De Puymorin's ghost type photos.
Objectively, in the image above, there is a black sheet floating in mid air like a ghost. The sterile and dank looking corridor could suggest it could be in an abandoned or third world hospital.
The areas of low light, location and model creates an uncertain, suspending and supernatural atmosphere. This could set the mood of doubt because popular culture, for example, Dynamo the illusionist, amongst other street performers, invoke curiosity which makes people question what they think is real. In my opinion, there is a high contrast between colours. As a result of the desaturated colours, this gives an eerier, supernatural feel to the image. And, due to the composition and depth-of-field of the image, the focus is centred around the long corridor. The image could be seen as having a relatively high definition because De Puymorin has used a very small aperture to get the background in focus. This could add to the effect of the sheet to portray a supernatural atmosphere.
My Attempts - Harold De Puymorin

Here, in the studio, I tried to replicate the works of Harold De Puymorin. I got someone to model under the sheet to create the definition in the face. I experimented with different positions and this was the most effective because you can see more curves from the side. In post-production, I erased the torso and legs from the original image to create a ghostly effect of the model. The image is not as successful as I had hoped because, when photoshopping, I had erased the model's shadows from the background, leaving it looking slightly animated with no 3D aspects.
